Hi, I'm George.

After studying a Mechanical Engineering Masters at University I went on to work for a large aerospace engineering company. I quickly became disillusioned by the repetitive nature of the work, the stringent procedures and specifications which removed creativity and the long hours spent sitting in front of a screen.

Many years before this I had been attending evening classes at a local ceramics studio, and as I grew tiresome of work these open studios twice a week became my respite. My skills grew quickly and I started to find ways of bringing together engineering and ceramics through 3D design and 3D printing of slip-cast moulds.

To pursue this further I took the bold step of quitting my job and studying a Ceramics Masters at Bath Spa. Whilst there I found an affinity with the Jigger Jolly machine and have been using it to create tableware. As a keen cook I have combined my passions; to design tableware that elevates the dining experience. Alongside my exploration into the Jigger Jolly, I have been looking extensively at glaze chemistry to create stable food safe glazes that will stand up to regular use in a restaurant or domestic setting.

I have now setup a studio in a shipping container, with my gas kiln (Nelly) outside, in Cardiff at Railway Gardens. I sell work through Cardiff:MADE and at local markets.

I have currently doing a salt firing residency with 3 other Cardiff based ceramicists. For more information head over to my blog.
